Connecting with children has always come naturally to me. I have worked as a teacher, tutor, youth worker and leader with children for the past 15 years. I have experience in the public school systems, non-formal educational models and abroad as an education coordinator, as well as a volunteer.
As a teacher I want to guide and empower my students to follow their dreams, build their self-confidence, and become responsible and active citizens. It brings me a great sense of purpose to instill in children a passion for positive social change and making a difference, in their lives and the lives of others. Every child deserves a chance. It only takes one caring adult who believes in their potential, for their wings to grow.
I've been fortunate to work with children and youth across Canada and in different corners of the world, including Latin America, Africa and the South Pacific. My cross-cultural experiences have given me a wealth of knowledge, the ability to adapt to all sorts of conditions, and a profound understanding of alternative ways of life. These opportunities have contributed to making me a grounded, patient, accepting and empathetic teacher.
Alternative and creative education has always been my preferred method of reaching young minds. I took my passion to a new level by founding The Puppeteaching Project, teaching children about disease prevention, environmental education and social issues through interactive puppet shows and workshops.
