Throughout the program, we had the opportunity to do many hands-on science experiments and projects.
THE NATURE JOURNAL
Our first project was a Nature Journal, in which we logged the daily temperature, cloud cover and precipitation of a specific site over a 3 week period. We collected outdoor plant, insect and animal samples which we reproduced artistically and described scientifically in our journals.

THE MEALWORM EXPERIMENT
Our second project was a Mealworm Experimentation project. We conduted a list of ten experiments with live mealworms, testing our hypotheses. In small groups, we created creative websites to share the process. My group's mealworm project, entitled "The Hunger Games: Mealworm Edition" featuring mealworm tributes "Ki-Kat" and "Pita Bread," can be found at the following link:

SCIENCE DISCOVERY CENTERS
Our third project was a Science Discovery Center about Joggins Fossil Cliffs in Nova Scotia. We included books about fossils, hands-on activities such as a cookie excavation station (dig for those chocolate chip fossils!) and a hands-on station where slicing playdough balls in half revealed the earth's layers,
to name a few.
